#6 - Waveland & Sheffield (1938)

The view of Wrigley Field outside the bleachers from Wavelend and Sheffield in 1938

Wrigley Field canvas print #6: The view outside a renovated Wrigley Field, from the intersection of Wavelend and Sheffield avenues in 1938. The North Siders would win the National League pennant that year, led by workhorse pitchers Bill Lee (44 games, 22-9 record, 291 innings) and Clay Bryant (41, 19-11, 270.1). A little known fact: A sore-armed Dizzy Dean went 7-1 for this team. Alas, the club would be swept by the powerhouse New York Yankees in the 1938 World Series. It was the New Yorkers' third consecutive title, with the World Series championship streak ending at four in 1939.
