#5 - Doublemint elves (1937)

Wrigley's Doublemint elves play atop the scoreboard, temporarily in left field, during 1937 construction

Wrigley Field canvas print #5: In 1937, a temporary wall was erected across the Wrigley Field outfield, to allow construction of a new massive, hand-operated scoreboard in center field as well as concrete bleachers to replace the old wooden ones. Note the mischievous, in not maniacal, play of the Wrigley Company's Doublemint chewing gum elves atop the old structure. One appears to be throwing a rotten tooth at the other, who waits, toothbrush in hand. Or maybe not. Who says there were no ads allowed in the park!
