#1 - Planting the ivy (1937)

Planting the outfield wall ivy at Wrigley Field in 1937    Planting the Wrigley Field ivy canvas front view   Planting the Wrigley Field ivy canvas side view   Planting the Wrigley Field ivy canvas angle view

Wrigley Field canvas print #1: In 1937, 23-year-old Bill Veeck Jr., whose pop was president of the North Siders til he died in 1933, had the famed Bittersweet and Boston ivy planted along Wrigley Field's outfield wall — an idea he had concocted at age 13! Today, when a ball gets lost in the ivy, it's ruled a double — but if and only if the fielder remembers to raise a hand, signaling “Doh! I've lost the ball!”
